If you’ve been dealing with that respiratory bug going around, the one where the coughing makes you feel like Greta Garbo’s Camille taking her last breath, you’ve probably tried a few things to get some relief.
Drug store cough medicines may work but they have down sides and contain chemicals that may not agree with you. Chicken soup, hot ginger tea, cayenne and garlic… all have their merits. But sometimes the old-fashioned toddy is the way to go.
And if you add the traditional whiskey, at least if you still don’t feel well, you won’t care.
Soothing Hot Toddy
Squeeze the juice of two lemons into a saucepan.
Add ¼ cup honey and bring to a boil.
Let cool for a few minutes, then add 2 ounces of bourbon or rum and drink while still warm (or add a tablespoon to your tea).
Best to have this at night when you’re not likely to operate any heavy machinery… or go on a job interview.

Thanks, Ray. Hopefully you won’t need the toddy, but glad you’re enjoying our efforts!
